The students' organisation MOVE, which describes itself as a grouping of progressive students, said today that it had been told by the Rector of the University that its request to install a condoms machine at Students' House should be submitted to the president of the University Students' Council (KSU).
MOVE in a press statement said it was disappointed that the Rector had not taken any decisions himself.
"This means that if the KSU turns down the MOVE request, the status quo will continue to reign at the University of Malta and the students will remain without access to condoms on campus," the students' organisation said.
MOVE said it submitted its request to install a condoms machine after a survey conducted during Freshers' Week showed that 70.6% of students agreed on having such a machine.
MOVE said it would go ahead with its application to the KSU.
