Happy Paws made happier
An ultrasound machine, a defibrillator and two infusion pumps were this morning donated to the NGO animal clinic Happy Paws in Marsa by Saint James Hospital.
The equipment is no longer used at St James but is still in working order. It will now be used in the treatment of animals.
Saint James Hospital marketing manager Frederick Attard told a news conference that the idea to donate the equipment to Happy Paws originated a few weeks ago following a call from one of the hospital employees whose daughter was a volunteer with the clinic.
The idea was to donate equipment that was still functioning but that was being decommissioned to Happy Paws.
Happy Paws clinic manager Maike Beekman thanked Saint James Hospital for the donation and said the equipment would be put in use right away.
The news conference was also attended by animal welfare director Mario Spiteri.

I had the occasion to pay a visit to the Clinic run by Happy Paws, and also discuss with the responsible persons who run it. I am sure that it is the best clinic on the island and the service being offered and given is sterling. They deserve to be helped for the good work they are doing for the animals. Hope that everyone understand the good work this clinic is doing for the animals especially those abandoned in the streets and continue to help this good cause.

It's heart-warming to see that our animals friends are now being looked after with better care! Well done, St James Hospital, and may more institutions follow this example. After all, if equipment is not going to be used anyway, this course of action is a much better choice than throwing it away.
