The Pope will travel on his Popemobile through 33 localities and 40 parishes during his visit to Malta, the organisers of the papal visit said today.
Mgr Charles Cordina and Charles Bonello, who head Church and government organising committees, said the Pope would not be stopping anywhere other than as laid down in his itinerary, but his routes were planned to take in as many localities as possible.
Where possible, the Popemobile would be driven near Old People's Homes, monasteries and town centres.
The Popemobile will be driven slowly to allow the people to greet the Pope. There will be bands in some localities.
Details on the routes to be followed by the Pope will be announced closer to the date.
The Pope arrives in Malta in the afternoon of April 17 and leaves in the evening of April 18.
Asked whether road works would be carried out ahead of the Pope's visit, Mr Bonello said maintenance would be carried out as required.
