A total of 25 flights to and from Munich airport were cancelled today due to brief strikes by public sector ground staff over a pay dispute, a spokesman for Germany's second largest airport said.

Service sector trade union Verdi has started a series of "warning" strikes lasting a few hours as part of a push for a 5-per cent pay rise for about 2 million public sector workers.

Domestic services and European connections were affected, the spokesman said. Most flights were not delayed, however.
