Two young Maltese sailors, Sebastian Ripard and Benji Borg, recently embarked on a gruelling three-year training programme as part of their Olympic aspirations, with one goal in mind... to compete for a medal.

Ripard and Borg are also using their passion for sailing to give something back to the community by organising their very own fund-raising activity in aid of Inspire, a clear sign they are firm believers in the work of this foundation.

On March 6, the two budding youngsters will sail their 49er around Malta in a bid to break the current record, 4hrs 50mins, which is held by Strait Dealer. It is a sponsored sail where all the proceeds will go to charity.

Ripard and Borg are hoping to raise over €5,000 for Inspire and so far have collected €1,959.

"As you can imagine it won't be 'smooth sailing'. So, everyone is urged to support these two lads for what is beyond doubt an historic event linked to a truly worthy cause," Inspire said in a press release.

Donations can be made through the official website, www.malta 49er.com/our-events.

Corporates willing to make a contribution of €500 or over, towards this charitable event, will be earmarked as one of the sponsors and entitled to extensive branding exposure.
