Mtarfa council to transform garden into recreational park

The Mtarfa council is cleaning up l-Bosk tal-Imtarfa to transform it into a park for the benefit of all.
Work, which started today, includes the cleaning up of the place, tree pruning, the reopening of pathways and the placing of benches and tables.
Information Parliamentary Secretary Chris Said visited the work this morning and praised the council's initiative. Local councils, he said, were being assisted and encouraged to plant around 4,000 trees in all localities.

Dak li jgħid l-artiklu hu biss deskrizzjoni superfiċjali ta' dak li hemm ippjanat li jsir. Nippretendi, iva, illi qabel ma jsiru modifiċi f'post bħall-bosk, isir eżerċizzju ta' Impact Assessment.
Li post li bħalissa jinstab fi stat "selvaġġ" (fis-sens ta' stat naturali, kif ħalqu Alla, bla intervent tal-bniedem għal bosta snin) jinfetaħ għall-użu iktar wiesa' tal-pubbliku żgur li se jkollu l-impatt tiegħu - kemm pożittiv u kemm negattiv.
Ħarsu lejn ir-ritratt illi hemm attakkat ma' dan l-artiklu ... x'tinnota? Jien innutajt kemm hu post "nadif"!

Jeez! Why do we think we can do better than mother nature. Leave it alone! I hate "Progress". (note the quotes) More like regress.

Int bis-serjeta?! Olive trees?! S-bend benches hodor? Jien pines biss qed nara..... naqbel li jkun hemm diversifikazzjoni, imma ma nahsibx li l-ficus hija idea tajba.... nippreferi kieku jkun hemm xi sigra endemika bhall xi zebbug, ballut jew harruba!! congrats to mtarfa local council!

I too am from Mtarfa, and do heartily thank the Local Council for all of its endeavours in keeping this place befitting its Maltese name - "Belt-il-Gmiel". However this little forest or "Bosk" should be left as is and not transformed into a myriad of pathways and benches. It was originally intended to look this way, as its original intention when planted was too hide the Military Hospital's line of view from planes flying over Ta Qali.
It is a pleasure to walk in this area, as one rightly feels as if walking through a wild forest. I do agree with heightening its aesthetics, but no please do not convert it into yet another unattended "park" full of vandalised benches and litter bins.

@M. Brincat, l-artiklu jghid car u tond x'sejjer isir u jekk il-kunsill izomm ma dak li huwa miktub ma jidirx li sejjer ikun hemm xi hsara lil dan il-post. Kull ma qieghed jinghat li se issir huwa tindif, li ebda Kunsill sa issa ma ghamlu, zbir tas-sigar, allura is-sigar b'hekk se jissaħħu u jikbru ahjar, passaġġi li kienu jezistu izda minhabba l-izdingar inghalqu, u xi bankijiet u imwejjed fejn wiehed ikun jista jirrikreja ruhu. Nappella lil kuinsill sabiex jaghmel restrizzjoni dwar sewgan ta roti f'dan il-post, passigjati bil-klieb, u loghob tal-ballun mit-tfal. Jekk isir hekk dan il-post zgur li jinbidel mill-lejl ghan-nar. Prosit u grazzi talli se tipproteġu l-ambjent ta madwar l-Mtarfa li f'dawn l-aħħar snin inbelat minn bini sfrenat.

A very good and commendable idea. As much earth should be retained as possible and paving should be restricted to the bare minimum so as not to disturb the existing shrubs and undergrowth. Trees should not comprise solely the olives, but Ficus trees like those in Msida Valley, on the Pieta waterfront and the road to the airport should also be planted. These provide a lot of shade from the fierce sun and will enable the park to be visited also in the long hot summer months.Otherwise you woudn't see a soul between May and November. Benches should have the old S-shape, made of wood and painted green

Napprezza dan li qed isir fil-lokalità tiegħi. Però nispera li sar xi forma ta' Impact Assessment qabel beda x-xogħol.
