Gun salute tomorrow

A full gun salute to mark St Paul's Day will be fired from Valletta's Saluting Battery at the Upper Barrakka Gardens tomorrow.

In 2004, Fondazzjoni Wirt Artna rekindled the centuries-old tradition of gun salutes, fired from Malta's fortifications, to mark religious feasts.

A special programme will be put on, including a commentary about the tradition's history, as well as a guided tour of the historic gun battery.

The tour will take place at 11 a.m. followed by the gun salute at 11.30 a.m. At midday, the noon-day gun will be fired.

Entrance is €5 for adults and €4 for pensioners. FWA members and children under 16 enter for free. For more information call 2180 0992 or e-mail info@wirtartna.org.
