Elderly woman run over
A 74-year-old woman was in critical condition last night after she was run over by a car in Żabbar Road, Paola at about 5 p.m., yesterday, the police said.
The driver of the vehicle involved was a 26-year-old man from Paola.
The woman, of Tarxien, was rushed to Mater Dei Hospital where her condition was found to be life threatening, the police said.
Magistrate Miriam Hayman, who is holding an inquiry, appointed a team of court experts to draw up reports on the accident.

But the cyclists still have to look. You talk about children being imaturewhat about you? if you had any sense whatsoever and if you live that long you will realise that people getting on in years are not as complis mentis as they were when they wer younger. Getting back to the cyclists, they do not automatically have right of way in all cases and it might be worth your researching cycling accidents in the countries stated. I have lived in Holland and Belgium and various other continental countries and have driven in them. How would you like me to make an acroos the board statement as you have done. There is another word for it ARROGANCE.

@ galea children have nothing to do with this , that is totally different , children are not at fault they are immature and still young so they wouldn't know , an example that recently happened , I was in Gorg borg olivier street also know as busketto road , an old guy crossed the road with out looking but as soon as he was in the other lane he looked at me and thought it was a great idea to warn me i was driving with lights while standing in the middle of oncoming traffic around a bend how would a driver be prepared for him standing in the road ?? He might have thought that he is doing me a favour but he wasnt , i drive with lights on day and night especially rainy days , what about the cyclists ?? in most places in the towns its cyclists who have priority when crossing roads not the vehicles , get your facts rights !

Run them over?
Do you know that a driver should always be on the look out?
What if a child slipped from his parents and suddenly crossed the road?
Would you run him over because he did not cross from a zebra crossing or because his parents let him slip away?
I agree that when there is a zebra crossing it should be used, but did you ever put yourself in their shoes and consider that they may have difficulty walking those extra metres especially if the road is not that wide and no traffic is near?
May you grow old like them and then see whether you will continue reasoning as you are presently reasoning jan.

true the elderly sometimes dont look properly but that is not a good reason to just bleme them.the driving is unacceptable and selfish and its time this government made it safe..to mention indicating and not stopping at give way signs, its selfish and ignorant.if you do not indicate then how does another driver or pedestrian know you are going to turn?? you dont indicate and knock someone over when turning it is 100 percent your fault and you should have your licence suspended or jail depending on how serious the injury..drink driving must have zero tolerance..our country is pretty backwards in mentality but how people drive is important..needless crashes and deaths..unaceptable

no surprise , the number of elderly who cross the road without even bothering to look is staggering, i myself am so irritated from this ignorance that i feel like running over them ! especially if 20 meters up the road there is some sort of pedestrian crossing !

May Gods mercy be with this poor elderly woman. I wish she doesn't suffer and that she recovers.
