After fourteen years they are worth half of what I paid then. Is the finance minister expecting a thank you?

I do hope there is proper communication between the various government departments in this matter.
This needed to ensure those persons/company's who are in arrears with NI, tax or VAT etc., have these amounts deducted from their refunds.

When I queried the non payment of my refund I was informed that there will be interest of 0.75% per month paid on outstanding refunds with effect from January 2010. (L Grech, Sliema)

Without interest ofcourse. It isonly the Maltese Consumer that pays 6 % interest on dues on utility bills.

Any hope for VAT refunds on double taxation paid on car registrations or will we have to report the matter to the New E.U. Commissioner for Consumer affairs to get what is rightfully due to the Maltese Consumer like his European counterpart?

Of those who are entitled for a refund, are there individuals/companies who in any way and for whatever reason owe monies to government? Could the general public please be assured of this?

This is a move which will make a number of families happy. Pity that these refunds normally take ages to be made and are not accompanied by interest..
