Malta in Eurovision first semi-final
Malta has been placed in the first semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest, and the Maltese participant will therefore take the stage on May 25.
The draw was made in Norway. The names of the 34 participating countries were placed in five pots based on voting patterns over the last few years. The purpose, organisers said, was to reduce the possibility of neighbouring countries voting for each other.
The countries drawn in the first semi-final with Malta are Serbia, Finland, Russia, Greece, Slovakia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Iceland, Moldova, Portugal, FYR Macedonia, Latvia, Belarus, Belgium, Poland, Albania and Estonia.

G'day - Oh Boy! Oh Boy! Oh Boy! as a ex-DJ from downunder the Maltese still haven't grasp the eurovision down falls, In my opinion Malta can do better by concentrating on the new comers on the island itself, but as for this year's entry, sorry but i haven't got much hope and its money down the drain yet again, but ofcourse we one only learns from their own mistakes, as for attracting tourists to the island surely we all know about the beautiful island and its friendly people, Malta doesn't need to prove anything to the world, there are better ways to advertise the island's potentials, but the eurovison its best left for the countries that vote for each other, and sorry to say Malta Stands Alone! which is a pity as i love the place, my ancestors were Maltese. Good Luck anyway. Peter Borg French.

@ Charmaine Marmara' : It's the equivalent of buying 1 beer a year compared to the huge pension/compensation payouts that government workers seem to expect.

@ lgalea: What, you mean spend the money on useless bus drivers compensation, ship yard workers compensation/pensions or government pensions? I think it's far better spent on something like Eurovision when you compare the huge waste on the other three black holes that I have just mentioned.

It's simply a waste of time and resources from the peoples taxes which could be put to better use.

Looks like we still haven't learnt anything from our Italian counterparts...first on illegal immigration and now the Eurovision too, what a waste of time and resources!
