€13,500 donated for rebuilding of Haiti schools

President George Abela today presented a cheque for €13,500 to help in the rebuilding of Salesian schools in Haiti.

The funds were raised during the Citrus Festival at San Anton earlier this month.

The presentation was made to Fr Eric Cachia.

Dr Abela thanked all those who were involved in the organisation of the Citrus Festival and all those who turned up.

He said that 6,800 kilos of oranges were sold along with other produce and items from the stands put up by Naturalment Malti and local councils, among others.

The Salesians are currently providing shelter for 30,000 people who lost their homes in the Haiti earthquake
