The Malta Business Bureau is to launch a series of information events themed 'Business Meets MEPs' which will give businesses the opportunity to discuss and exchange ideas with Malta's MEPs.
The events are supported by Content House and will be held regularly at the Hotel Phoenicia, Floriana, on Friday afternoons between 3 and 5 p.m. The first, to be held on Friday, will discuss European Union social and employment issues and will analyse the cost of some measures on employers, business and economic competitiveness.
Miriam Dalli will interview MEP Simon Busuttil.
Topics to be discussed include the revision of the Working Time Directive and the prospective revision of the Posted Workers directive, the proposals for the Maternity Leave Directive and the Anti-Discrimination Directive.
All these issues, at the core of the EU's evolving social agenda, command a strong and direct bearing on the competitiveness of Maltese business.
The Malta Business Bureau aims to enhance the interface between local business interests in relation to the new European legislature. The MBB is to develop a quarterly schedule of these regular meetings between Maltese MEPs and the local business community and will take the form of fora and open-floor debates with participants.
These meetings are open to members of the Malta Chamber and the Malta Hotels and Restaurants Association, and to the business community at large.
Registrations for the first event are to be submitted by Thursday to the Malta Business Bureau at info@mbb.org.mt or by calling 2125 1719.
