How come Mediterranean bank is paying these interest rates and HSBC and BOV rates for similar terms regardless of how much money you have are still paying less that 2%. Given the fact that these deposits are regulated by the Malta Financial Services Authority and Mediterranean Bank operates under the depositor compensation scheme which guarantees deposits up €100,000 per person, most of us maltese can deposit our money with this bank to get these good rates. Seems like our money will be safe unless there is a catch.
