Hibernians made to pay the penalty

Tarxien Rainbows - 1, Hibernians - 0

It was Denni Rocha Dos Santos’s 45th minute penalty which separated the two sides.

Just before the interval, Denni stormed his way towards the edge of the box and the Rainbows midfielder was hacked down in the box by Chris Camilleri. From the penalty spot kick, the Brazilian took responsibility and crashed home an unstoppable shot past Muscat just before the interval.

This win hoisted Tarxien Rainbows five points from the cut-off at the congested bottom half of the premier league as they need only one point to secure a championship pool berth if Floriana had to defeat Sliema tomorrow.

Hibernians staged a late rally in search of the equaliser but Tarxien survived an onslaught to record a derby victory over fierce rivals Hibernians
