Sandra Mifsud is to be congratulated for transforming reality into a fairy tale with her letter Angels And Demons In Hunting Grounds (January 30).

I enjoyed her short story about the altruistic elves of BirdLife, as white and pure as the driven snow, with no care in the world save to flit around like angelic bodies on majestic wings to hinder and obstruct the evil slimy hunting devils in their wicked deeds.

What a pity she had to wake up to reality the next day.

The European fairy godmother seems to have got cross at so much goodness, and with a wave of her magic wand, the Birdlife elves were suddenly transformed into cowering, rasping toads, hiding among the reeds; while the evil devils changed into ordinary human creatures, and went about in their fields, enjoying themselves no end.

How wonderful it is to have a fairy godmother able to change fiction to reality.
