Usain Bolt will make his 2010 track debut over the longer distance of 400 metres at a February 13 meet on the sprint king's home island of Jamaica, organisers said yesterday.

The 23-year-old, world and Olympic champion and world record holder over the 100 and 200m, normally kicks off his season with outings over one lap of the track as a way of easing himself from training into competitive racing.

Bolt's compatriots Yohan Blake, Ricardo Chambers, Daniel Bailey and Marvin Anderson have also been entered for the event at the National Stadium.

Bolt was last in action in September with a straightforward win in the 200m during the season-ending IAAF finals at Salonika, Greece.

This season, the sprinter will take part in seven of the 14 meetings in the IAAF's newly-launched Diamond League but seems unlikely to race at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi in October.

Bolt will race the 100 metres in the June 12 meet at New York, the fifth leg of the Diamond League.

He will return to the track at the Icahn Stadium where he set his first 100m world record of 9.72 seconds in May 2008.

"The track was lit up by lightning but despite the storm, the supporters stayed seated to watch the 100m. So I know they enjoyed my speed," recalled Bolt, nicknamed 'Lightning Bolt'.

The Diamond League begins in Doha on May 14 and will replace the Golden League, which grouped together the six most high-profile meets of the summer season.

After winning three gold medals in the 2008 Beijing Olympics (100m, 200m and 4x100m relay), Bolt won the same three events in the World Championships in Berlin last August, setting new world records in the 100m (9.58sec) and the 200m (19.19).
