A 44-year-old man from Birzebbuga has been jailed for three years after he was found guilty of stealing two wallets and cheques and of using the cards within the wallets to withdraw money and purchase items.

John Polidano committed the crimes between October 2003 and February 2004.

He was charged together with Veronique Borg Costanzi of St Julian’s, who was only found guilty of forging a cheque for Lm225 (€524), for which she received 18-months probation.
