The Malta Union of Teachers has stepped up industrial action being taken by all teaching grades.

It said that while teachers will be marking exam papers, they will not do any clerical work relating to the exams - which start this week.

Furthermore, Kindergarten Assistants are to carry out only pedagogical work and not clerical work such as the filling in of attendance sheets.

The MUT said directives it issued last week remaine in force.

The dispute was declared after the government declared that it found no anomalies in the allowances given to teachers as compared to allowances given to other sectors of the civil service.
