Birkirkara striker Sylvano Comvalius left the island yesterday for a four-day trial with Russian club Spartak Nalchik.
The 22-year-old Dutchman, who joined from Premier League rivals Ħamrun Spartans, has been the main force in attack for Birkirkara so far this season, scoring 11 goals in 16 Premier League matches.
With the Russian championship starting in the middle of March, Spartak Nalchik are currently having a training camp in Turkey and evaluating all options with regards to new signings.
Informed sources have told The Times that Spartak Nalchik have been tracking Comvalius for the past few months now even though no offer was tabled by them.
However, it seems Birkirkara, who were beaten 1-0 by Sliema Wanderers on Saturday, are reluctant to part with any of their players at this time of the season.
Also, with the transfer window now closed, it will be impossible for them to sign any replacements.
