Microsoft Malta employees recently held a day of community work at Dar Qalb ta' Ġesu in St Venera, a shelter for women and children who have experienced domestic violence.

One of the tasks during this voluntary event was the plastering and painting of two rooms. These are now in the process of being transformed into 'digital libraries' in which the home's residents will be able to enjoy easy access to computers and the internet. The Malta Communications Authority partnered with Microsoft Malta for the event by donating five computers with Microsoft software installed for these libraries.

"Good logistics and efforts resulted in a very efficient project, making this first community day a successful one," said Microsoft Malta's Fiorella Ellul Sullivan.

"This was also an opportunity for all our employees to learn more about the difficulties encountered by people living in our society. Therefore, we are very proud to have had this opportunity to alleviate a bit of the hardships encountered by the residents at Dar Qalb ta' Ġesu.

"As a follow up to this event, Microsoft Malta employees will now be going a step further by helping in the basic digital literacy training of the people residing in the home," she said.
