The Muscat family of Nadur was awarded the Premju Qalb tad-Deheb, sponsored by the Gozo Cana Movement for the past 39 years.

The award was presented by President George Abela during an evening held at Hotel Ta' Ċenċ.

The award is given to a family that had passed through difficult times.

Last year the Muscat family suffered the loss of their son Fr Joshua Muscat, 27. He succumbed to cancer two years after the priest he replaced (also a Gozitan) in Nichelino, Italy, suffered the same fate. Yet, despite these sufferings, the Muscat family showed courage and remained united.

The evening included musical works by the Chorus Urbanus.

Present were Gozo Bishop Mario Grech, Gozo Minister Giovanna Debono and Parliamentary Secretary Chris Said.
