Pasta Poiatti Qormi 5
Mr Clean Young Stars 0

From the very first whistle Qormi meant business.

Their efforts, however, were controlled by a well-marshalled Young Stars defence but only until the 32nd minute when Qormi converted a short corner action through a stinger by Jaun Sarcia.

Qormi doubled their lead two minutes later from a free-hit set-piece from outside the D which saw Steve Tanti concluding from close range.

In the second half, Qormi kept up the pressure and by the 40th minute they had scored goal no.3 with a fine flick by Phillip Magri.

Young Stars tried to react but their attacks were weak and ineffective.

Qormi struck again on 48 minutes, this time through John Williams who pounced on a rebound off the keeper's pads.

Young Stars again went searching for a consolation goal but failed to capitalise when they were awarded a penalty stroke, Ramon Chircop saving off Charles Micallef.

It was just not the Stars' day and to add to their miseries Qormi added a fifth through Owen Piscopo from another short corner set-piece.

With this win Qormi are now five points clear at the top.

White Hart started on a high and by the second minute they had already forced a short corner which saw Luke Borg Costanzi hitting wide.

After the early onslaught, Sliema settled down to share the exchanges and winning a couple of short corners which, however, did not create any danger to White Hart.

Both teams gave little space and play was mostly concentrated in midfield. White Hart did make a last rally just before lemon-time, winning three short corners with Paul Torpiano missing a good chance to open the score.

The second half was more or less on the same lines as the first with White Hart showing a slight edge over their opponents and Sliema goalkeeper Nicky Cremona effecting two fine saves off Borg Costanzi.

Mark Zahra had a golden chance to open the score on 24 minutes when he was put through by Karl Tua. With only the goalkeeper to beat he failed miserably.

But the goal was in the air and from a free-hit, Borg Costanzi passed to Tua, the latter beating Cremona with a half-turn slap shot.

White Hart thought they had wrapped up the game but Sliema put the game back to parity two minutes from time with a Dylan Lentini snap shot.
