People queueing outside the Central Bank to exchange their lira coins into euros as the coins in the old currency approach their final hour on February 1, after which the Central Bank will no longer exchange the old currency coins. The Central Bank will continue to exchange Maltese lira banknotes until January 31, 2018.

This could be the case of "every cent counts" especially in these tough times with higher bills looming over our heads.

Just wonder why these people leave it to (nearly) the last minute to change the coins they've known about this redundancy for long enough.
