35 participants for Tetley League

In terms of difficulty, prestige and chronology, the 2010 Tetley National League is arguably the foremost competition in this year's calendar of events organised by the Malta Scrabble Club.

A total of 35 participants have been divided more or less equally into three divisions.

In Division One, champion Theresa Brousson is the firm favourite to claim her fifth title in a row in spite of the recent surge in form of David Delicata, himself a five-time Malta champion.

The outlook is more uncertain in Division Two where Frans Farrugia will once again have to draw on his vast experience to see off the challenge of the upcoming Josephine Mayo.

In Division Three, Mary-Rose Caruana is in pole position to cross the finishing line ahead of the rest of the field.

All contenders recently had the opportunity to tone their brains in preparation for the league during the first one-day tournament of the year.

A whitewash win by Brousson was a clear sign of things to come, while positive performances by Nicky Vella Laurenti and Pauline Cilia, second and third respectively, also bode well for the success of the 26th National League.
