A Libyan man on bail was yesterday charged with crashing into two cars while drunk and damaging an ambulance when medics tried to help him with a large gash he had on his face.
Yousri Agouri, 30, was meant to be home when the incident took place in line with bail conditions imposed in connection with another case on charges of defiling a 12-year-old girl.
Police Inspector Sandra Zammit said Mr Agouri was meant to be home by 11 p.m. but he crashed into the two cars at 11.15 p.m. on Monday.
Mr Agouri appeared in court yesterday with the left part of his face swollen. A large gash and sutures were visible across his face.
He pleaded not guilty to 18 charges, ranging from driving without a licence and insurance cover, to threatening a nurse and damaging the ambulance.
Magistrate Antonio Mizzi remanded the accused in custody due to the seriousness of the charges.
