John's Group is to continue to implement a restructuring programme this year, according to managing director Raymond Farrugia.

The diversified group, with interests in transport-related services, travel, tourism, automotive repair and maintenance, specialised consulting and retailing, was set up by John Farrugia in 1958.

John's Garage Ltd, a group subsidiary, is committed to be the first carbon neutral car company in Malta by offsetting the carbon emissions of its entire fleet of vehicles by planting trees.

"2010 will see John's Group continue to implement a restructuring programme that will enable third-generation members of my family to be given further positions of responsibility," the managing director said at the launch of the first edition of Superbrands for Malta last month.

"The current climate has given us a further impetus to tackle our cost base and, thanks to the contribution also of non-family members on our executive board, we are confident that all the targets set will be reached."

John's Group is one of 54 leading Maltese brands in the Superbrands "brand bible".
