Tottenham stay fourth, Liverpool held
Tottenham Hotspur strengthened their claim for a top-four finish in the English Premier League with a comfortable 2-0 win over Fulham last night as Liverpool could only manage a 0-0 draw at struggling Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Peter Crouch and David Bentley scored Tottenham's goals at White Hart Lane to keep the north London club in fourth place with 41 points, three ahead of Liverpool who rose to fifth.
Manchester City, who play Manchester United in the League Cup semi-final on Wednesday, are also three points behind Tottenham but have two games in hand while Aston Villa are on 36 points before their home game with Arsenal.
Burnley dropped into the relegation zone for the first time this season after a 1-0 defeat at Bolton Wanderers who moved out of the bottom three to 15th. Bottom club Portsmouth drew 1-1 at home to West Ham United who remain just above the drop zone.

Liverpool at home can do what they like - there are special rules applicable only for Liverpool.

@G. Attard. Agree 100%. Spurs were robbed of at least a point by the incompetent ref Webb. He has taken the habit of giving strange decisions when he happens to ref Spurs. Last year was a case in point against Man U at Old Trafford when he handed Utd a penalty when Gomes not even made contact with Carrick.
Hope we keep constant with our play especially come this Sat v Brum away. But every game has its story.

This was a great win for Tottenham who were really robbed of a point at Liverpool last week when a goal was wrongly ruled offside and a penalty was not called for a tug on Crouch in the box. It is still early days but 4 points above Liverpool is great considering they have to face Arsenal, United and Chelsea soon.
For the past few seasons Tottenham were the team to break into the top 4 and have really disappointed but this year things could be different, it now just depends on how consitant they can be, especially away from home.
Having said that, even a top 5 finish will do for me as I still think we can't remain a consistant top 4 team year in year out unless we strengthen some areas of our team.
