A Libyan who was out on bail after having been accused of defiling a 12-year-old girl was back in court today to face charges of violating bail conditions, assaulting policemen and causing wilful damage in an ambulance and at Mater Dei Hospital.
Yousri Agouri, 30, who is resident in Birkirkara, pleaded not guilty to a string of 18 charges.
The court was told that the man was supposed to be at his home by 11 p.m. in terms of his bail conditions, but last Monday at 11.15 p.m. he got drunk and crashed his car into another two vehicles, injuring himself.
He then resisted and assaulted the police, insulted a nurse, damaged equipment inside an ambulance and disobeyed police orders at Mater Dei Hospital and later at police headquarters. He also distrurbed the public peace and violated the conditions of his bail.
Magistrate Antonio Mizzi remanded him in custody.
