Infrastructure and Transport Minister Austin Gatt has issued directives for a review of the policy on the installation of speed cameras.

Dr Gatt, replying to a parliamentary question, said that the installation of new speed cameras has been suspended pending the review. He gave no further details.

The minister had been asked by Nationalist MP David Agius whether a speed camera would be installed on the road from Mosta to Mgarr.

There are currently speed cameras at Regional Road, St Julians, Hal Far Road in Gudja, Regional Rd, Sta Venera; Burmarrad Rd, St Paul's Bay; Birkirkara Bypass; Notary Zarb Street, Attard; Qormi Bypass;Mdina Road, Qormi;Tal-Barrani, Zejtun and Mdina Rd, Zebbug. Cameras in Pembroke were recently removed. One was installed at St Paul's Bay Bypass but it is still covered.
