Sliema back to winning ways
Sliema - 3, Dingli - 1
Sliema Wanderers came back from a goal down before beating Dingli Swallows 3-1 at the Hibs Stadium.
The Wanderers, who were led by new coach Mark Marlow, found themselves behind on 26 minutes when in a quick break Joseph Okonkwo fed Andre Rocha Da Silva who beat Simon Agius with a low shot.
Sliema tried to hit back and on 28 minutes they were awarded a penalty but Lucian Dronca saw his shot saved by Dingli goalkeeper Jeffrey Farrugia.
The Blues’ persistence finally paid off 19 minutes from time when Ian Azzopardi picked Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza who showed remarkable skill to volley the ball home.
Sliema kept pushing forward and five minutes later Shaun Tellus was adujudged to have blocked Failla’s shot with his arm and a penalty was awarded. Tellus was subsequently dismissed and Ivan Woods rammed the ball past Farrugia.
Azzopardi wrapped up Sliema’s win with a third goal 12 minutes from time when he headed home a Muscat cross.

Local Lad

Dingli Swallows need to start preparing for life in the 1st Division. I am disapointed to say this as I am a local lad, and watching Dingli Swallows competing with the Premier Class is every local lads dream. Joseph Okonkwo will leave in the summer, so it's time for the club to invest into homegrown talent. As for now we need to go back to the basics especially when it comes to defending. It was the best time to beat Sliema, let's hope we start wrapping up some points from the next game.
