Young people started their preparations for the Papal visit today by taking part in a pilgrimage during which a crucifix and an icon used during World Youth Day were taken from the Excelsior Hotel in Floriana to Sliema on a sailing yachts.

Private boats and dinghies from Vikings Sailing Club followed the boat.

The crucifix and the icon will now be taken around various parishes and will end their journey with the Papal Mass on the Granaries and the Papal meeting with Young People which will follow at Valletta Waterfront.

The Pope will be in Malta on April 17 and 18.
