Cassar Torregiani honoured for her contribution

Geraldine Cassar Torregiani was recently honoured for her sterling contribution to athletics in Malta.

She received the Women's Leadership Award during the annual presentations ceremony held recently by the Malta Amateur Athletics Association. The award was presented to her by the president Anthony Chircop in the presence of other officials including those from the Ladies Running Club, who had nominated Cassar Torregiani.

Geraldine received this honour in recognition of her contribution to athletics where she encouraged many, especially women, to take up the sport.

Although not very active nowadays, Cassar Torregiani was also nominated for her work over many years as coach, competition official, club volunteer and event organiser.

She was instrumental in setting up the Ladies Running Club and also occupied a high post within the athletics association during her career in administration.
