Allied Publications won the first prize in the Novels in a Foreign Language Category of the National Book Prize with the book Paul Grech's book Dead End.

It also won the second prize in the General Research in Maltese or Foreign Language Category with the book Cross Currents: Critical essays on art and culture in Malta by Raphael Vella.

The prize giving ceremony, presided over by Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi and Education Minister Dolores Cristina, was held this evening at Castille.
