Strengthened support for victims of crime discussed

A seminar is to be held by the Justice Ministry soon to discuss strengthened support to crime victims, Minister Carmelo Mifsud Bonnici said yesterday.

He was speaking to timesofmalta.com following a meeting of the European Justice and Home Affairs Council.

Dr Mifsud Bonnici said he brought up the topic during the meeting as he was also pushing to put the matter on the European agenda making it a priority for all EU states.

Support for victims of crime, he said, could be strengthened through criminal procedures and support.

The seminar would be followed by a review in which the government would study which areas needed to be tackled.
