Updated: Aircraft slides onto the grass
The cargo aircraft with part of its undercarriage stuck in mud.
Adds details, picture
A Saudi Arabian Airlines MD-11 cargo aircraft skidded onto the grass at Malta International Airport last night.
The large three-engined airliner ended up with part of its undercarriage stuck in the soft soil near a taxiway but no one was injured. The airport fire-fighters were deployed as a precaution.
The plane had flown in from Brussels on its way to Saudi Arabia.
It is expected to be pulled out this morning.

@Tony Abela
Looks more like the pilot miscalculated the turning rather than a skid. PErhaps some Pilots flying LONG Widebodies can confirm how much they need to 'OVERSTEER' aircraft because of the long fuselage!
And REST ASSURED Taxiways A & A1, C D E F G ARE ALL CAPABLE of 'HANDLING' Wide bodies!...If not, ATC WOULD NOT HAVE CLEARED the MD-11F to taxy through there!

Surely not a skid on a link taxi-way. More likely miscalculation. It is still surprising as the pilot is guided with different coloured electric lights to mark the taxiway edges and the centre line.
This should not have happened, unless he used a path which is not approved for the size of the aircraft.

Its tough to concieve a skid when on the taxiway... unless there was slush or ice (which I do not recall of seeing any!).

That stretch clearly needs a speed camera ;)

At least the Saudi & Air Malta incidents were very minor and caused no impact to anyone on board unlike the Ryan Air aircraft that literally went skidding off the end of the runway at Glasgow. That was very close to being a huge disaster:
