Darren Bonnici, 28, of Zabbar was accused in court today of having grievously injured Kyle Gili through negligence when he shot him near Zabbar yesterday morning.

He was also accused of hunting in a bird sanctuary.

He pleaded not guilty and was granted bail against a personal guarantee of €5,000.

The incident happened when the two friends were out hunting.

It is believed that Gili, 21, came in the line of fire as Bonnici followed a bird he was shooting at.

His condition is still critical.
