Planning consultation
Leafing through the new Mepa Bill, it is immediately apparent that consultation has been given more importance at all levels. The new stages of consultation in planning and policy development levels, as well as clearer regulations on access to information, will allow planning and development to be discussed more openly and transparently.
This new pledge for openness is evidently resonating well with our hardworking NGOs. It has been difficult to imagine how Mepa could possibly be reformed to emerge from its perceived quagmire but, if fully implemented, this reform will be the Prime Minister's best legacy.

Kevin, as an ex-PN Local Council candidate, can you tell us whether you agree with the increase in tariffs that MEPA is to impose?
The only way MEPA can be restructured is to scrap it once and for all because it is only costing millions for the people with whiffs of corruption all the way.

Dear Kevin,
You are quite correct to give credit to the immense role and function that NGO's play in all aspects of ensuring that MEPA ,along with other governmental entities, conform with their remit and pleged responsibilities. However, only time will tell if your hope that this new pledge for openness-which is not a new pledge at all as transparency, accountability and integrity have long been mission statement core value pledges of GonziPN-will actually be implemented.Given the past and ongoing failures on what basis should we now believe these reform pledges?
