People 'satisfied' with postal service
A survey conducted by the Malta Communications Authority shows that most people are satisfied with the local postal service.
A consumer perception survey found that the majority of households (85%, compared to 78% in 2006) and small businesses (69.8%, compared to 79.8% in 2006) found the service provided by Maltapost to be either very good or fairly good.
In the case of large business mailers, these were asked to express their level satisfaction for thequality of postal services as a rating between 1 to 5, where 1 stood for very satisfied and 5 very dissatisfied. The average rating registered by large business mailers was 2.1 (compared to an average rating of 2.6 in 2006).
The surveys also looked into the use of Maltapost's website where it resulted that there was a higher proportion of small businesses (62%) to households (21.3%) that actually made use of Maltapost's website.
The majority of households (65.5%) do not use Maltapost‘s registered mail service. In contrast the majority of small businesses (78.3%) and large business mailers (96.9%) use this type of service. The majority of all the customers expressed satisfaction with this type of service. The level of satisfaction has also improved ,when compared to 2006, for all customers.
The majority of households (84.1%) and large business mailers (59.4%) do not use Maltapost's parcel post service. On the other hand, the majority of small businesses (57%) use this type of service. The majority of all the customers expressed satisfaction with this type of service. When compared to 2006 the satisfaction for this type of service increased for all the categories surveyed, the MCA said.

Staff at Post Office are very helpful but unfortunately I've had a few letters and a cheque book missing and on a few occasions I received my neighbours' mail. I've asked the bank and a couple of companies not to send anything by mail, consequently I have to call for the envelopes myself.

I am pleased with the service provided by Maltapost. I agree the delivery was faster years ago but still the service is quite good, though not perfect. The problems seem to be with some individual post persons, well irresponsible workers find them everywhere.
Last Christmas I erroneously posted a postcard with only the name of the house and the town, and without the street name. I was surprised to note that it had been delivered.
Well done Maltapost ... keep it up, but take care of the naughties.
However some people are only happy with perfection .... and this is impossible to find.

Why are Malta Post telephone numbers either never answered or void?

I am very satisfied with the postal service in general. However I cannot say so about the parcel and customs office in Marsa... One particular delivery was stranded there for 10 days because of customs clearance something to do with paperwork and computers... they even charged me for that!!!!! However I learnt a lesson not to order anything from outside the EU or at least ship with with courier delivery!!! For the rest well done Maltapost!!!

I am still waiting for more than one Xmas card posted in early December in England.

I am surprised with the result of this survey since it seems like mis-deliveries are way on the increase - I have had my mail delivered to the wrong person at least twice over the past few months and I have heard many other such complaints.

Most of the Maltese postal service, are friendly, and efficient. Obviuosly, like everywhere else, there are also some few bad employees, but on the a general level, the service is a very good one.
I`rather pinpoint to the other companies providing other kind of 'delivery service', I am talking about the people who leave a lot of leaflets, on my doorsteps, almost everyday!! With the result of a lot of papers running around in strets, on a windy day!

Reading the complaints below, the problems seem to boil down to the individual post person, not the company as a whole. It is a pity that a small minority of post people taints the reputation of a company. I am really pleased with our postman...always smiling and even delivered letters when the address was garbled!

I'm clearly not one of those satisfied with the service. We have a really irresponsible postman who doesn't seem to know what are good practices in delivering post - and I know a word or two about it cos my father worked in the postal services for 30 years! For example bending books I order online, or tearing the front cover of the film magazine I am subscribed to, leaving green notices when there are members of my family at home, bending certificates we receive by post etc. I have reported him TWICE but not even one time action was taken.

I buy many items, some of a rare-nature from abroad and they arrive at my door... along with the usual DVD's etc. of course.
However, at one point the post used to arrive at 10am, till it stretched to 11 and eventually till noon.

I am surely not one of the satisfied people. We receive monthly a magazine from the UK and it clearly states on the envelope DO NOT BEND, but the post person does not seem to know what this means, as she leaves it folded in half, ruining it. This has happened several times and complained to Maltapost each time, promising us that this will not happen again. Maltapost will not reimburse us the cost of this magazine and so we end up buying it again at a cost of 7 Euros each time. That's the kind of postal service we have! Great

I am satisfied with Maltapost's service; since internet was available locally, I have been ordering clothes, books, DVDs, CDs and other items from overseas and delivery has always been prompt, of course depending on the amount of postage paid; nor has any item ever gone astray. Maltapost stands among the top postal services and is superior to Royal Mail and Poste Italiane by what one sees and reads in UK and Italian media

I am satisfied with the postal service. However after my door number was changed (by the police) three years ago, I still receive letters addressed to the family that had my present door number. I have informed the post-persons more than once about their new door number but, as post-persons are frequently changed, you have to tell them everytime they are changed.

You bet! They must have made the survey by picking up those who only have brochures dropped down their mail box. Why don't they ask the many who write to the various Editors complaing about the service and the multitude of others who don't even write. I do no count the number of letters WHICH I KNOW ABOUT that have not been delivered to my address, let alone those about which I don't know.

I only wish that I was one of the interviewed persons, as the type of Malta Post Customer Service I got regarding a lost registered urgent letter to Sydney Australia was a shame....I am def not one of the "satisfied customer, thats for sure"

As Mr Borg I find the postal and parcel service very satisfactory
What I suggest is that when a public holiday falls for example on Monday there will be an extra collection on Tuesday morning. The reason is because at present if I post a letter on Saturday after 3pm that letter will be collected on Tuesday evening . too much time in the letter box. Another suggestion is about the Post Office . These close at 12.45 every day.
At the Post Office to day you can buy stationery goods pay TV Lic Telephone, Water and Electricty Bills and much more. I suggest that these remain open till at least 4pm

I am impressed.. I have complained more than once about wrongly delivered items.. Always got an aknowledgment letter but problem keeps on recurring.. Maybe postmen/women lack literacy.. I am just at ease at the moment because as far i know it has not happened again for the last few weeks as far as i know....

Its gotten better ...but im still very upset that I never got compensation for the post that was stolen from me and my family when one of Maltaposts employees was caught stealing on Sliema route. Opened, empy parcels stuffed in my letter box, most of them being university books my sister required and and personal bank statements! We had about 150 euro worth of stuff that was never delivered to us.
All Maltapost could offer us was a pack of pre-paid envelopes! GEE thanks Maltapost, very useful.

Clearly those interviewed don't remember the time when one could post a letter at 7.00am and it would be at its destination by noon on the same day. The postal service was the only public service which made us proud.
