As all persons of good will, I am worried about the suffering now of the survivors in Haiti. I heard President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva here in Brazil saying that some three million people are without water. And he was telling of the difficulty in lifting all this water, itself a "mission impossible"!

Preoccupied and thoughtful, I remembered that there exists a certain technology called reverse osmosis and among other countries Malta and the Maltese have now vast experience of using it, even if it is an imported technology. Remember Haiti is an island and the sea water should be "near".

What if the people and the government of Malta were to suggest this solution to whoever in Europe is taking the initiative to organise help for Haiti and offer a reverse osmosis plant as Malta's contribution, if the experts confirm this is feasible?

An American plane has been throwing tanks of water from a helicopter. It is hardly a good solution. Of the two I prefer the former!
