In reference to the picture caption story on new glaucoma equipment (January 15), the glaucoma screening equipment was donated by the Lions Clubs Malta Zone. Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) and the Ministry of Finance through the Good Causes Fund also helped to raise the required amount to procure the equipment.

The new equipment replaces that which was donated by Lions Clubs in Malta some 15 years ago and which was housed in five government health centres in Malta. One of the six new tonometers has now been installed at the Birkirkara health centre.

Incidentally, Lions Clubs Malta Zone have also printed brochures in Maltese describing "What is Glaucoma and its effects" and also giving information where one can go to check one's eyesight. The brochures can be obtained from health centres.
