The Joseph Muscat-Jason Micallef chronicles have been given a fresh impetus with the latest decision to remove the role of secretary general in the party.

In an interview this newspaper had conducted with Mr Micallef, the former secretary general had stated that it was agreed (between him and the Labour leader) that Labour Party president Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi would not be given the title of secretary general following his resignation from the post. Dr Muscat reportedly agreed to this.

True to his word, he has not given Dr Zrinzo Azzopardi the title of secretary general. Instead, he has abolished the title and given the role itself to Dr Zrinzo Azzopardi. What a sweet play of words. Shouldn't this newspaper ask for Mr Micallef's comments?
