Request to stop Doujon Zammit trial rejected
Parents face their son's alleged killers
Oliver and Rosemarie Zammit, the Maltese-Australian parents of Doujon Zammit, have faced the alleged killers of their son during their trial on the Greek island of Lesbos, Australian media reported.
The Australian Daily Telegraph said they clasped each other's hands for support as they took front row seats in the packed courtroom. Sitting behind them was Kostas Gribilas, who received Doujon's heart, and his new wife Poppy.
Marios Antonopoulos, a bouncer, is accused of beating Doujon, 20, with a fold-out baton on the island of Mykonos in August last year. Antonopoulos, 26, has been charged with murder while another three men face charges of being accessories to murder and attempted murder. All have pleaded not guilty.
Defence counsel sought to stop the trial, arguing that key witnesses were not present, but the presiding judge rejected the request.
Doujon's cousin Cameron Tabone, who was with him during the assault, could not attend for financial reasons and provided a written statement. Also missing were three other Australian witnesses and a Greek resident who called an ambulance on the night.

Doujon is my Cousin. There needs to be justice here. Justice for Doujon, a beautiful young Man, cut down in the prime of His Life, by a violent, irresponsibe thug. Justice for His Family, who have suffered terribly. Justice for common decency and humanity that a civilized society, ruled by Law, can not allow or condone, such behavior. Justice for the reputation of the Greek People, a proud people with a long tradition of Law, Morality and Civility, the cradle of Western Civilization. ~ 'We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit. ... At his best, man is the noblest of all animals; separated from law and justice he is the worst.' (Aristotle, 384 - 322 B.C.) ~

It is well known that in Eastern Europe but especially in Greece many a passport has been stolen from visitors. They have a high price on the black market especially for terrorist groups. Doujon was especially targeted because of his age, facial profile and skin color.
His passport would not have to be altered to suit some young terrorist as he can easily be mistaken for a Palestinian. Those who killed him did it for money, nothing else.

This cases stinks. 5 key witnesses missing including Doujon's cousin. Defence counsel sought to stop the trial, but the presiding judge rejected the request. There might either be a lot of other key witnesses or this case has already been decided before the actual hearing. How can a murder case be heard without key witnesses ?? It would be something like.....Mr. Marios, did you kill Doujon Zammit? He answers "No your honour, it wasn't me" anybody would like to contest this statement? "No your honour there are no more witnesses", Ok so I declare the accused not guilty of Murder.
