Dalli's performance was exceptional - PN
John Dalli
European commissioner-designate John Dalli's performance during his grilling by MEPs yesterday was exceptional and he made Malta proud, the Nationalist Party said in a statement.
It said that Mr Dalli proved he was ideal for the post entrusted upon him by EU Commission President, Jose’ Manuel Barroso, that of steering the EU’s health and consumer policy.
Mr Dalli proved wrong those who for more than a decade argued against EU membership,and showed that Malta’s geographical size was no hindrance to the country's contribution to the union.
Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi’s decision to nominate Mr Dalli was a wise one from which all EU citizens would benefit.
The PN wishes Mr Dalli well and expresses its’ gratitude to Commissioner Joe Borg, who made Malta proud as its first commissioner

The PN gave the World the Law of the Sea and put Climate Change and the forefront. The PL gave us confrontation and a Secret Treaty with North Korea when it came to the International Diplomacy. What a contrast.

Ones' past family political background is not important for the PN. The PN believes in a strong University, pluralism, and free thought. The PN wants a society that is educated and informative. The PN is not afraid to fight elections based on Ideals and on peoples inspirations. The PN believes that one, once given the the information is quite capable to choice. The thing that one vote as his parents and grandparent did, is slowly a thing of the past.

Kompli ohlom habib. Try and do so in colour, I read when one dreams in colour it is more entertaining, at least you get something out of your dreams.

Time and again PN proves that it has substance within its rank and PL is still weak and without substance. Joseph Muscat has proved to be a huge disappointment ... the man excels in cosmetic changes (name of party, and soon change in flag) but substance zero...zilch..disaster

Some people act for their own purpose. A grand remuneration attracts even the richest man on the island and does the impossible to posses it and not lose the opportunity. To the contributor who mentioned all the persons in authority such as RCC should remember that they are all P.N. and the P.N. nominates P.N. persons for any job in Malta or Overseas. There is nothing to be proud off. Neutrals not to say L.P. people there are who can represent the country more seriously. Let's name Prof. Dr. Debono who is a world authority on lateral thinking. By the way he comes from a L.P. sympathizer’s family. It is presumed he can fill whatever post he is given charge of. So don't be so boastful P.N.s

Well done to John. Those who are questioning the PN's track record in Govt do not know what they are saying. While we see PM Gonzi taking decisions to tackle the recession we see an artificial MLP with it's leaser lacking in putting tangible proposals. Ex. The MEPA reform the MLP did not put one proposal and now is being negative. Where was the MLP during the consultation process of MEPA reform.

The proof of the pudding is in its eating. Therefore lets wait and see how Mr. Dalli will put words in action. Judging by his governments performance in the last 15 years I cannot say that I am very optimistic. To all those who immediately jumped on the wagon trying to belittle the PL - all I can say is that the same party my friends elected 4 MEPs and the PN only 2! So stop counting the chicks again before they hatch and lets judge everybody on his own merit and not the party he is affiliated to! It is typical of the stagnant PNs mentality to try to politicize everything. And any references here to the PMs choice of our President, well bear in mind that a labourite seems to be more fit for the post to unite the country than his self proclaimed predecessor who, by the way, was found guilty of political discrimination - let alone unite the nation!

@ Giovann Said-You seem still bitter and unable to move forward. Instead of turning a new page, the LP keeps repeating the same mistakes over and over again. It prefers to make a deal out of a tiny sliver in someone else's eye and ignoring the beam (travu) sticking out of its eye! Why don't you tell us how the LP is trying to amend its Statute eliminating the position of Secretary General because no one would come forward to fill the position? Will the Party Delegates, who elected Jason with the biggest majority ever be defied or forced to endorse an amendment to legitimize a decision already taken? Some brand of democracy the LP practices!! The PN always had legitimate politicians in its ranks and when asked to serve among the larger nations and with greater responsibilities, they always performed excellently shattering the LP's portrayal of the Maltese as being 'makku'! Indeed our makku can swim very confidently with much larger species. I watched John Dalli's performance almost entirely and he was decisive in his replies and obviously very well received.

Reserve your praise until worthy of such as what has been achieved thus far?It is one thing to prove to be a master of the media and adroit at being grilled by either your peers or the press but only time will tell if Mr.Dalli proves us proud with a lasting legacy as until then,as in the case of a certain Mr.Obama,the jury will be considering their deliberations until something tangible and concrete has been performed and fulfilled in his role as a Commissioner rather than the promise thereof.As currently all he has achieved is to be given an inauguration on a silver platter without having to apply or submit a C.V. .Only time will tell if this proves a judicious decision for until then nothing has been completed to warrant such adulation and hysteria in his present fledgling position.I wish him good fortune but will not allow myself to become excessively (EU)phoric until actual accomplishments merit such unadutlerated praise.

PN is spoilt for choice 1. Lawrence Gonzi at the helm of the country 2. John Dalli Commissioner in Brussels 3. Richard Cachia Caruana - Malta's Representative in Brussels 4. Simon Busuttil and David Casa in the EU Parliament 5. Prof Josef Bonnici in the Court of Auditors AND LABOUR HAD THE CHANCE TO PUT GEORGE ABELA AT THE HELM AND INSTEAD CHOSE THE SUPERFICIAL JOSEPH!

Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi’s decision to nominate Mr Dalli was a wise one from which all EU citizens would benefit. Same as PM Gonzi's decision to nominate Dr George Abela as Malta's President all Maltese citizens are benefitting.

"The PN... expresses its’ gratitude to Commissioner Joe Borg, who made Malta proud as its first commissioner"
Ghidulhom sabiex ma jdahhkuniex lil tal-PN!! Taf x'messhom jghidu tal-PN:
(a) li ghandhom inkwiet kbir ma' Joe Borg ghax ried jerga' jigi nominat u spicca b'xiber imnieher;
(b) li ghandhom Gvern li tilef il-maggoranza parlamentari wara biss 22 xahar minn meta rebah l-ahhar elezzjoni generali (xi haga li ilha ma tigri sa mill-1998!);
(c) li ghandhom Deputati minn taghhom stess li qed jehduha kontra t-tmexxija prezenti tal-PN;
(d) li ma jafux kif ser jaqbdu jmexxu lil dan il-pajjiz u qed jaraw kif ser igebbdu tliet snin ohra fil-Gvern biex taparsi jkunu ghamlu l-mandat kollu;
(e) li qed jitmexxew minn PM inkapaci li mhux kapaci johrog b'policies tajjeb ghall-gid tal-pajjiz u hafna affarijiet ohra.
Jekk Dalli fl-UE jimxi bhalma mexa meta biegh il-MID MED BANK ghall-prezz mizeru ta' Lm 80,000,000, ma tantx ser ikollu performance eccezzjonali! Il-poplu jinsieh dan? Ghax jien le fortunatament!!
