New civic centre in Għajnsielem

Parliamentary Secretary for Public Consultation Chris Said recently visited the new civic centre being built in Għajnsielem.

The building in J.G. De Chambrai Street will incorporate a police station and a health centre.

Dr Said praised Għajnsielem council's decision to build its centre close to existing facilities such as the primary school and the public library.

The new civic centre will have photovoltaic panels on its roof to make use of cleaner energy.

Dr Said said 44 towns and villages benefited from special funds allocated to introduce energy efficient measures last year. The scheme, which will be reintroduced this year, encourages local councils to use alternative energy through the installation of solar and photovoltaic panels, as well as energy saving lights in streets and public places.
