The family of the deceased former Hamrun Spartans president Victor Tedesco have asked a court to issue a warrant to stop the Premier Division club from loaning, selling or in any other way transferring players to other clubs.
The family said that in terms of a declaration made on November 15, 2001, Hamrun Spartans had declared that they owed Mr Tedesco €51,821, and 70% of transfer fees were to be used to pay back these debts.
Furthermore Mr Tedesco or his procurators were to be involved in decision-making regarding player transfers.
In a further agreement in February 2008, Mr Tedesco agreed to receive 30 per cent of transfer money as long as monthly payments were made, but such payments were not made and €45,100 were still due.
The Tedesco family pointed out that the open season for player transfers started on January 1 and Hamrun were reportedly involved in talks to transfer players to other clubs, particularly Ryan Fenech to Sliema Wanderers, to which club Fenech was already on loan.
The family said they had been excluded from such talks in violation of the agreements reached.
Mr Tedesco passed away on March 18, 2009.
