Cinderella on ice melts hearts
Extra shows by popular demand

Dancers in elaborate and colourful costumes skated over seven tonnes of ice this weekend in a unique ballet rendition of Cinderella.
The Mediterranean Conference Centre became a frozen ice palace, ornate with magical sets, bringing the evergreen fairytale to life. Gnomes, fairies and women in luxurious ball gowns glided across the ice with graceful agility, to the enjoyment of children and adults alike.
Cinderella on Ice is a unique version of the world famous Prokofiev Ballet and was presented by the St Petersburg State Ballet Theatre, which has performed more than 5,000 times worldwide.
Its 100 medal-winning skaters have performed classics like Beauty and the Beast, the Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake and Romeo and Juliet.
Due to popular demand, Standing Ovations, the organisers of the show, added two extra shows to the schedule: a matinee show on Saturday and another evening show yesterday.

No news about a refund I guess? All we are left with is an apology ... and a bad experience of course !
Thanks MCC & Standing Ovations !

Altough the mix-up was not the fault of organisors - Standing Ovations - they should also shoulder the blame. The least the organisors could do was to inform their patrons the reason for the delay in the seating. The only instance when they tried to justify the delay was half an hour after the scheduled start, worse still, they tried to take the audiance for a ride, treating the audiance as a bunch of fools, by announcing that there was a small technical problem but the show will commence within 10 min (in the english version of the announcement it became 15 min). Wose still 1.5 hours later when Xandru cam to the stage to appologise for the delay, he read out his appology in English only, stating as reason that there were foreigners in the audiance. I as Maltese was really offended as it was clear that the organisors did not feel the need to appologise to their maltese patrons.
What about an appology from the MCC CEO?

I went to last Saturday evening's show. Whoever was responsible for causing the show to start 1hr 20min late handled it really badly, especially since the problem was known. I don't even know why they sent out a presenter, before the show started, trying to apologise for this delay, when the presenter knew that he was going to be literally ridiculed by the audience.
The show was really great, however I did expect it to be slightly longer. It was quite ironic really, as the waiting time was nearly as long as the performance itself.

@ Ray
Thanks for admitting the fault, but that's not enough. Please pay us our money back. In my opinion, although its MCC's fault, since 'Standing Ovations' organized the event they are responsible too. They should have tackled the problems better.

I expected Sat's show to be relaxing and enjoyable but for me it turned out to be an unpleasant experience from A to Z. No apologies were given to us customers for being left waiting for 1.5 hours, given different seats as ours were already taken and Mr. CEO, I do not accept 'we managed to seat all the guests'. My seat nrs were Stalls D21 & D22 and we were seated in row I. I wanted my seats but what could I do when others had same ticket nrs? This is not fine for me at all. I expect full refund of my tickets....after all I did not get what I paid for. One thing I know for sure - if this is what MCC call efficient customer service, then Sat was the last day they saw me. Shame on you MCC. And by the way, we left during the Intermission!

I would like to declare that the responsibility for the technical fault experienced during last Saturday evening's Cinderella on Ice performance was totally MCC's and not Standing Ovations' The problem was not an issue of overbookings, as in fact we managed to seat all the guests, but a technical problem with the numbering of the seats. All the other three shows proceeded without any major problems. The MCC apologizes for the delay and inconvience caused.

I too agree with the comments show here. I was there too on Saturday. It was a real shame having to wait for 1hr 20mins before the show started. To add insult to injury during the interval they gave us the sign to return to our seats but there and then they switched off the lights and started the show whilst the majority of the public was trying to go down the stairs to find their seats. One thing I have to add it was not only double booking but triple booking. Shame on the organisation.

I agree with the posts shown here. I attended the Sat show and was
disgusted at the way the problem was handled. I can understand that
problems can crop up. But in this case, the organisers where aware of the
problem before hand (since they had contacted ticket holders to change
tickets) however they failed to handle the problem. There could have been
various measures to ease the problem, like opening doors earlier or more
people to check the tickets. With regards to Gauci post, for us it is
irrelevant who's problem it was. Standing Ovations were the ones organising
it , and they are responsible !!

The problem was from MCC part not Standing Ovations, please be careful when putting someone in bad light

True that the ballet was excellent but as was said it was shameful having to wait 1hr 15mins "due to a technical fault" as was explained by someone of the organisers at a certain point when I had already been waiting for nearly an hour. I agree that we should be refunded. I too will never dream of attending any other function if this is not remedied.

We were present for the Saturday matinee show and whilst it was enjoyable it certainly did not merit the almost €150 we had paid, for us to watch. Just over 2 years ago, we watched a spectacular show on ice in Germany, on a stage more than ten times that seen at the MCC at one fifth the cost we paid last saturday.
How long must this persist for? We work very hard for our money, yet it is more often then not that we are deprived of the quality and value we so much yearn for.....

Last Saturday I attended this show and I was very disappointed by the organization of the event by 'Standing Ovations'. The event was scheduled to start at 8pm but instead started only at 9.15pm! 1hr 15mins later! All this happened because they had to check the tickets manually cause they overbooked! They should be ashamed, the attendees where disappointed and made themselves clear by booing the organizers multiple times. I expect to be fully refunded, if not I shall never attend another event organized by 'Standing Ovations'.

Saturday 9 January: The show was 1hour 20 minutes late starting; reason as far as one knows was due to OVER BOOKING by MCC. It was a real shame that people who bought tickets and seated prior 2000hrs were only informed once, at 2015, that there would be a delay of 10 minutes.
Unfortunately the show did not start before 2120 hrs and
ended at 2300 hrs. One strongly queries whether we were in fact shown the entire programme as the whole performance, as when officially informed at the booking office, was a 2-hour show - Saturday's show was of 1 hour and half. Can those responsible at MCC give us patrons an explanation? Also, why is one charged 6Euros for the programme, which was all
in German,(with English translation in loose leaf)? Another RIP OFF! The authorities could have at least compensated in some sort - for such an unannounced long wait, such as a discount on the next MCC BOOKING. One can well imagine the reaction of those who attended this concert! MCC should stick to the time advertised i.e. doors are closed on time - show starts on time. Good show otherwise.

This article fails to point out that the Saturday performance started 1.5 hours late because the theatre was over booked. The show certainly did not melt hearts.
the audience was left waiting without being informed about what was happening. The presenter came out after around an hour claiming the mess was not his or the organiser's fault and told us the show would start in a couple of minutes... we were left waiting once again for way more than a couple of minutes.
The extra shows were probably held because of the above.
That's the last time i ever go to a Standing Ovations event.
