The LSM and BCA colleges recently organised two concerts at St Aloysius' College, Birkirkara.
The chosen theme for the concerts was 'Dance'. During the junior concert, 18 music students, who classified first in both the December and April practical grade examinations, performed on their respective instruments.
During the senior concert, five students who placed first in grades six to eight performed. These were followed by nine diploma performers who played pieces ranging from Mozart's Sonatas to the well-known Jealousy Tango by Jacob Gade.
The highlights of the evening included the participation of the Santa Maria Accordion Band under the direction of Marthese Busuttil Cassar, as well as a performance of Monti's Czardas on accordion by Alexander Bodell.
Both concerts concluded with a solo performance by Rita Psaila, who was accompanied by two ballerinas, Rebecca Camenzuli and Kay Gauci. Ms Psaila was then joined by Rita Grima Buhagiar and together they performed piano duets, Hungarian Dances by Brahms and an arrangement of Dvorak's Slavonic Dance.
During these concerts over 100 distinction candidates received their certificates. During the senior concert, 23 graduates also received their diplomas, ranging from Recital to Fellowship level.
The concerts were held under the patronage of the principal and examiner of both colleges, Raymond Bodell and organised by Rita Psaila, Malta Local Representative for the LSM and BCA, assisted by a team of helpers and teachers.
