British dance super group The Prodigy will be playing live in Malta on April 30.

The band are expected to arrive in Malta after playing a series of concerts in Italy and Sicily on their 'Invaders Must Die' tour. Details about the event are expected to be released in the coming days.

Set up in 1990, The Prodigy's unique sound pioneered the dance genre of the big beat electronic sound, selling more than 17 million albums and forever securing their contribution to the annals of dance music.

Thanks to flamboyant frontman Keith Flint, the group crossed over from the rave scene to the mainstream, thanks especially to their live shows, which blend arena-rock showmanship with punk theatrics.

But the band owes its success mainly to Liam Howlett, whose studio wizardry blended hard-hitting techno with hooks and metal chords, propelling The Prodigy to the top of the charts.

The band broke into the mainstream with the critically-acclaimed The Fat of the Land, which featured the hit singles Breathe and Firestarter.

Last year's album Invaders Must Die debuted at the top spot on the British album charts and signalled a return to the rave sound of their early days.
