Sammut lands December prize

Valletta midfielder Kevin Sammut ended 2009 on a flying note when he topped the list of players vying for the monthly BOV Player of the Month award.

Sammut has performed consistently for his team after joining the Lilywhites from Marsaxlokk before the start of the current season. The Malta midfielder played a crucial role in Valletta's positive run during December.

Skilful when in possession of the ball and adept at tackling opponents, Sammut has been instrumental in setting up goals for his team-mates. He also scored a stunning goal in Valletta's 4-0 victory over rivals Floriana on Boxing Day.

Antoine Attard, manager of Business Banking at Bank of Valletta's branch in Republic Street, Valletta, congratulated Sammut for his showings and presented him with the BOV Player of the Month trophy.

Sammut chose The Children's Cancer Support Group to benefit from the donation associated with the award.
