Fourteen-year-old Chris Peplow won his first match in the European U-17 Snooker Open when he beat Anton Andersson of Sweden 3-1 at the Apple Snooker Club in Buġibba.
Peplow started well, winning the first frame 55-24. Andersson restored parity when he took the second frame on the black but Peplow came back strongly and won the third 75-8 before sealing victory when taking the fourth frame 60-40.
In other matches, Ruberg Schachar, of Israel, beat Keith Kinnersley (England) 3-0, Zak Barton (England) had the better of Kenny Seynaeve, of Belgium, 3-1, Alexis Callewaert (France) defeated Leo Sjogren (Sweden) 3-0 and Benjamin McCabe (Sweden) eased past Mateusz Piorkowski (Austria) 3-1.
In the last match of the day Sam Harvey beat Simon Lindblom 3-0.
After the first two days of the tournament, Michael Leslie still holds the highest break with a run of 64 ahead of Malta's Wayne Pace who compiled 60 points.
Matches are played daily between 9.30 a.m. and 6.30 p.m.
